About Daniel Cooper Art
Painting and drawing landscapes of The Lake District, Cumbria, in charcoal and mixed media.
The Practice
Daniel Cooper Art is the studio practice of Daniel Cooper, a British artist working primarily in charcoal and mixed media. Born in Shropshire in 1985 and now based in Cumbria, Daniel devotes his career to interpreting the landscapes of The Lake District — its peaks, its weather, and the quiet drama of its high places.
Each piece begins on the fell itself, in sketchbooks and photographs, and is built up in the studio through layers of charcoal, graphite, ink and wash. The aim is never strict topography. It is the felt experience of the place — the shifting light on Scafell Pike, the brooding presence of Skiddaw, the intimacy of Haystacks — translated to paper and canvas.
Originals are released as one-off works. Selected pieces are also issued as signed, numbered limited edition prints across a number of formats, alongside ceramic mugs and other small editions, so that those who love the Lake District can live with the work at any scale.
What the Studio Stands For
Archival Craft
Originals are made on conservation-grade supports. Limited edition prints are produced on archival giclée paper, signed and numbered by the artist.
Rooted in Place
Every work is tied to a specific fell or stretch of Cumbria. The titles, the references, the atmosphere — all drawn from time spent on the ground.
Signed by the Artist
Originals and limited edition prints leave the studio signed by Daniel personally. Editions are numbered and capped — when they are gone, they are gone.
